Join The Chamber

According to By-Law ARTICLE IV - Membership

Section 1. Any reputable person, association, corporation or partnership being lawfully and actively engaged in business or profession, or nonprofit civic organizations, within Southampton or its trade area, may apply for membership to the Southampton Chamber of Commerce, Inc.

Section 2. Members may be elected at any meeting of the Board of Directors and shall pay a membership fee at the rate established by the Board. Applications for membership to the Chamber shall be in sympathy with the purposes of the Chamber. The following categories of membership shall be available.

A. RESTAURANT/ACCOMMODATIONS -- as stated.

B. REGULAR BUSINESS - any business engaged in the sale of goods or services.

C. SECOND BUSINESS MEMBER - where one owner has more than one business, the first business shall pay a general member rate. Each subsequent business shall pay a fee for a Second Business Member.

D. NONPROFIT BUSINESS -- as stated,

Section 3. Candidates for membership to the Chamber shall submit an application to the Board. The Board shall consider admission of each candidate at its monthly meetings. Approval by a majority of board members at any meeting where a quorum is present shall constitute approval for membership.

Section 4. Members may be expelled by the Board of Directors for cause or for non-payment of dues within a reasonable time as affixed by the Board. Nonpayment of dues shall be grounds for automatic expulsion and shall not require a hearing. No member may be expelled for cause without the opportunity of a hearing before the Board.
